Pervez Musharaf has Resigned! yes you have heard it right. He has finally been forced to resign as President of Pakistan.
Well, it was a regime spanned on almost a decade. Now as he has left now, the most important thing is how we are going to deal with the impeachment process. Is their a deal been already made for a safe passage or he is going to face the court?
Considering our past record, no armed official has ever been put to Jail or faced trial in the 61 years of history. So I am pretty confidant to say that he will get a safe passage. Chapter closed.
Question is, who is going to be the next president of Pakistan? The real battle begins. Now we will start seeing all the tu-tu, mein-mein, chik-chik between the coalition parties every where. I am not a pro-Musharaf but the leadership we have is not any better than him. Infact, everything seemed alright before the incident of Lal Masjid and Chief Justice. The things I am going to be worried from now on are.
– Would there still be selections based on merit as I have seen that happening in the past in many departments.
– Would the new leadership will accept the media in the current form? Can they let them enjoy so much liberty-to-air almost anything?
– Would they actually start doing something to make the life easier for a poor man now they have solved one major issue according to them?
Well, I am sure many more questions will come up in every ones mind soon. Let’s see how many answers we get from them.
Pakistani’s would want him to go through the trial and bring him to justice but unfortunately this is not going to be done. With Musharraf’s resignation, Pakistan still stands nowhere because the political parties have now got to decide whether they are going to bring back the judges in courts or not. Zardari wouldn’t want that or he will have to get back in jail again for the rest of his life.
@ Hasan: Exactly my thoughts. I don’t think Musharf was the root cause of all the problems which popped up out of no where just before elections. Now, He’s gone, let’s see who they put the blame on.
Also, I don’t think they are going to bring the judges back and will try to find some middle ground. Let’s see, what happens. We can just hope that they will start taking care of the core issues of rooti, kapprra aur makkan instead of these deviations.
No doubt the core issues are roti, kapra aur makan but how can you expect that when you don’t have an independent judiciary? Until and unless we have a PURE judiciary, we can’t achieve even a single bit of what we want Pakistan to be.
@ Hasan: I said deviations because these in reality are real deviations. Do you think that only the Judges being taken out are “PURE”? Who ever comes over here use the judiciary for their own political gain and our whole system is like this. There is no guarantee that if these judges were reinstated that new leaders will not use them for their own interest. But leave this aside for a while, I am going to make a new post on it and we will discuss it there InshaAllah.
Please guess, who is going to be the next President of Pakistan? So many fingers are pointing toward Asif Ali Zardari. If he becomes the next President, then it will become obvious that he is the one getting the greatest gain out of Muhtarma Benazir Bhutto’s assassination. Does he really deserve to be on such a seat? He’s already become the 2nd richest person from Pakistan in the first two reigns of Muhtarma. Now what he’s looking at? May be the richest person from whole Asia or may be world? Who knows?
You have a valid point that these politicians will try to use the judges but we haven’t seen judges with such a stance. Anyways let’s move on see how it goes.
I definitely don’t want Zardari as President. No ideas as to who exactly but it’s going to be someone from PP for sure.
@ Hasan: Well Hasan, I too would not like that at all. I hope some honest and senior leader comes into the picture as the next President of Pakistan.
On judges issue, to be honest, Judges are not angels. They are required to remain isolated from the community so any relations may not affect their decision and honarable Chief Justice Sahib has already been socialized way too much. Read my other post Chief Justice of Pakistan, Ch. Iftikhar Ahmad, with all due honor, you should not get your seat back.
